Trenton Way 2nd Alarm Multi Family Structure Fire
Posted On: Mar 16, 2019

On Friday, March 15 at 3:56 p.m., Local 2086 members responded to a second alarm structure fire at 2172 S. Trenton Way. Crews arrived on scene to find flames coming out of the third floor balcony of building 2 in the Covington on Cherry Creek Apartments. Members began a transitional attack by fighting fire from the outside. They made entry inside the building, but as conditions deteriorated they transitioned back to fighting the fire from the outside. Crews used ladder trucks to put water on the fire from above the roof. Members went through all three levels of the apartment building to make sure everyone evacuated safely while rescuing multiple pets in the process. The fire displaced 24 apartment units, but apartment managers were able to make arrangements to place those evacuated in hotel rooms. One member sustained non life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. No civilians were injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is undetermined at this time. Thanks to Arapahoe County Sherrifs Office, Aurora Fire Rescue ,Arapahoe Rescue Patrol, Inc. & Northglenn Ambulance for coordinated efforts on this call.
